Uniform Order Form Due August 1st

Attention Returning Band Members!

Please remember to turn in your Uniform Order Form (found in your band packet) by August 1st to Heather Rose at heather-rose@snet.net. There is an instructional video link listed on the form to help with measuring if necessary.

Please contact Heather if you have any questions.

Thanks for returning this form on time - it really helps!

Mentor Program

Remember back to the days when you were a new band parent and felt completely at sea about Band Camp, Band Aids, and all things Marching Band?!? This year, to help alleviate the confusion, a Mentor Program is being set up to help all newcomers. Please help out our new members!

Responsibilities are simple: the mentor will set up a time to go through the handbook with the freshman family (in person) and then invite them to the first show in order to make them feel comfortable. Volunteers can contact Crystal.

Winter Guard 2010

Many thanks to the Members, Parents, Band-aids, BOE, Mr. Riley and all those who came out to support the DHSWG Program this year...and make it a success. March 27th, Championships,  was wonderful and we were happy to see so many alumni rooting for our team...It was a pleasure to be involved in the evolution of the program this year - stepping up to National A class in WGI as well as MAC...plans are already in the works for next year.

Tentative plans: The guard will offer six clinics, complete with show performances for the purpose of recruiting from DHS...Immaculate...Abbott Tech as well as our Elementary and MS system. Our goal is to have three programs to create a feeder system that will help grow the HS band/winter guard membership. I will keep you posted on the dates and times once we confirm gym time...stay tuned for details on recruiting, clinics and encore performances...

All the best,

George Maloney

Scores for the 2010 season are available on the MAC website.

And from Mr. Riley:

Greetings!

I have always said that the real blessing found in my work was the opportunity to work with and learn from our community's wonderful children. I could never have imagined that I would encounter the same such blessing working with their parents. Your creativity, energy and commitment are beyond comparison. Congratulations to you all. Your Jamboree was fantastic!

Mr. Riley

Ad Sales Due August 23rd

Hopefully the heat of summer will be over by the time band camp begins!!! In the meantime, this is a friendly reminder that if you plan on covering your child's participation fee with ad sales, that those ads are due on the first day of camp - August 23rd.

For additional forms and a list of ads sold to date, check out the Ad Sale section of the website. (Updated 8/12/2010)

Please turn in ads that you sell (payments and ad copy) as soon as you receive them by mailing them or dropping them off at the school's Main Office, marked "Band Aids." Susan Cohen, Jamboree Ad Sales Co-Chair, will be checking the mailbox on a weekly basis.

Color Guard Summer Schedule

The COLOR GUARD will rehearse every Thursday night from 6 to 9 PM by the Band Room (weather permitting). Please have anyone interested in our program meet us there and check out a rehearsal.
