Band Camp
A sure sign that summer
is winding down is when you look at your calendar and see the date
circled for the beginning of Band Camp. Many sections have
been very busy this summer working on memorizing music for the fall
show. Many students have participated in the Marching
Techniques sessions held in late July / early August.
Everyone's been busy selling ads for the Jamboree Program
book. Before you know it, we'll be sitting in the stands
cheering as we watch all of that hard work come to fruition at the
first show on September 13.
Some tips for Band
Camp which runs 8AM-3PM August 11-15 and August 18-22, with
extended hours Tuesdays and Thursdays of those 2 weeks from
4:30-7PM.
-
Don't forget to
bring your instrument and music
-
Bring lots of water
- more than you think you need
-
Wear sunscreen and
bring extra to apply later in the day
-
Bring a lunch
-
Wear sunglasses and
a hat with a brim or a visor
-
Be prepared for rain
if the sky looks gray
Parents should
plan to stop by the registration table on Monday (anytime during
band camp) or Tuesday until 9AM to:
-
Fill out the medical
form
-
Verify contact
information
-
Turn in ads or pay
the participation fee
-
Order and pay for
post-performance uniform (new students only)
-
Volunteer for an
activity
-
Place a GL Scrip
Order
If you need forms, you
can find them

Jamboree
Ad Sales
The first $300 in
ad sales were due on August 11th, the first day of band
camp. If you have not yet sold you ads or paid your
participation fee, please do so at your earliest
convenience. Please give them to Mr. Albano in an
envelope clearly marked "Jamboree Ads". See a
list of ads
that have already been sold.
The Ad Packet
for the Fall Band Season was distributed at the picnic on
June 6. If you didn't get your packet and you
are currently in band, check with Mr. Albano. If you are
new to the band and didn't get a packet, contact Diane.
Information and additional forms can be found here.
As soon as you receive the ad packet, you may
begin selling ads to fulfill your participation fee for next
season.

Photos Posted
Check out new
photos posted on 6/7/08 from the Disney
Trip and the Memorial Day Parade. More are on the way.
If anyone has
photos to share, let
Diane know. If they can be put on CD,
then I can get them posted on the website.

GL Scrip
will be back in August
This
fundraiser will resume in August during Band Camp. If you need more
information about this Gift Card fundraiser,
check out the information on our website. The next order for
this season is due on September 4th.
Order form for
August 2008 is available here.
Do you shop for
groceries? Gas? Books? Gifts? By participating in
Great Lake Scrip, shopping for everyday items and holiday
gifts could raise significant dollars for the band and your
student. All you need to do is to purchase gift cards in advance for
these items that you would normally buy anyway. Takes a bit of
preplanning on your part, but the benefits could be huge! Take
a look at the list of participating retailers on
their site. You'll probably see several that you use right
now. Forms will be sent via email or you can get
them right here on the website.
