News
Congratulations to all the students who
participated in the Western Region Auditions. It took a lot of preparation
and no small amount of courage to audition before the adjudicators - we are
very proud of all our students! DHS did very well: 20% of the students who
auditioned from our band, orchestra and choir will be participating in the
CT Music Educator's Association (CMEA) Music Festival on January 15th &
16th.
And, we raised over $400 from the Bagel
& Bake Sale. Thanks to all who contributed items to the bake
sale. There were a lot of hungry participants and chaperones who really
appreciated the food. And thank you to all who helped out throughout the
day. It was a big success.

Welcome,
Mr. Riley

Mr. Riley, a
familiar face at many band events, will be taking over as the DHS Band
Director for the 2009-10 school year. He is currently the band
director at Broadview Middle School.
Mr.
Albano, Moving On...
Mr. Albano
will be moving to Broadview Middle School to take over as band
director. All of his time and efforts over the past 4 years to improve
the DHS band program are greatly appreciated by all. It's amazing how
much time he spent with the students during the school day, during the
summer, on weekends, and after school in many ensembles, competitions,
fundraisers, and so much more. He will be missed by the band family of
students and parents.
Notable
Night - Success!
The cafeteria
of Danbury High School was transformed into a beautiful dinner club for our
recent Notable Night dinner. Thanks to all of our volunteers who put
in lots of time to make the night a success.
Special thanks
go to the Outback Steakhouse for providing, preparing, and serving a
wonderful dinner. The balloon decorations provided by Balloons Etc.
added a very festive touch. The plants borrowed from Danbury Agway
on Mill Plain Road were beautiful. They'd look good in any garden.
And thank you to Ancient Order of Hibernians, Durant's Tents and
Events and the Amber Room for their support and sponsorship. And
to all of the many local businesses and individuals who donated goods and
services to our Silent Auction, we couldn't have done it without you!
See the Notable Night section for a complete list and please visit our
sponsors!!!
Photos of the
event are posted.
